Is the online Masters of Music program accredited?

EKU’s Department of Music is accredited by The National Association of Schools of Music (NASM) and the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE).

How quickly can I complete my degree?

EKU’s 100 percent online Masters of Music can be completed in as little as 18
months, with classes starting every eight weeks.

Do I have to have a Bachelor’s in music to enter the program?

Candidates must possess either a bachelor’s degree in music or certification in music from an accredited institution.

Is a thesis required?

The exit requirement for this program is comprised of a special project tailored to each student’s course plan. A thesis option is available to interested students, but is not required.

Will this program lead to teacher certification?

No. This program does not lead to teacher certification, but is ideal for currently certified teachers looking for a program to fill their master’s or rank requirements.

Do I need teacher certification to enter the program?

No. This program does not require candidates to have teacher certification.

Does the tuition differ for in-state and out-of-state students?

No. All EKU Online students pay the same tuition regardless of residency status.

Will I be able to continue working while I earn my degree?

No. Because they are online, courses do not have specific meeting times. Coursework and assignments will have set completion dates and you will be able to work according to your schedule and study anytime, from anywhere.

EKU Online is dedicated to student success. Online students have access to blackboard support, online tutoring, and library resources. In addition, online students are always encouraged to reach out to their instructors regarding any needs they may have.
